RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
PROGRAM

Miss Ellie Moore

A Parent’s Prayer
Loving God,
You are the giver of all we posses, the source of all of our blessings.
Thank you for the gift of our children.
Help us to set boundaries for them, and yet encourage them to explore.
Give us the strength and courage to treat each day as a fresh start.
May our children come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ,
whom you have sent.
May you Holy Spirit help them to grow in faith, hope and love, so they may
know peach, truth and goodness.
May their ears hear your voice.
May their eyes see our presence in all things.
May their lips proclaim you word.
May their heart be your dwelling place.
May their hands do works of charity.
May their feet walk in the way of Jesus Christ, you Son and our Lord.
Amen.
RE Unit Of Work: Let The Little
Children Come To Me
ECE Religious Education
Philosophy
Our Kindy religious education program aims to support families in the
faith formation of every child. We will be providing a range of
experiences that will nurture and develop each child’s sense of wonder
and delight in the fantastic world God has created. The
children’s spiritual, social and emotional growth are fostered as children
learn about God’s love for them and as they show care and respect for
each other and for the materials and environment around them.

Through play-based learning children are encouraged to understand

and apply Catholic beliefs, values and attitudes in purposeful and
meaningful ways. Concrete experiences are provided so that children
can play, discover and explore religious concepts at their own level. For
example children learn about Jesus teaching people to love and care
for others through engaging with Gospel stories. Children then apply
their learning through activities where they are guided to take turns,
share and think about the feelings of others.

We understand that the children are taking baby steps in the life long
process of developing their faith and religious knowledge and
understandings. As their early years educators we feel very honoured to
be sharing the beginning of this journey with them too.

The Early Years Learning
Framework (EYLF)
• The fundamental experiences of belonging, being and becoming are
integrated throughout the ‘Let The Little Children Come To Me’ resource.

Belonging • When raising religious awareness in the early years, children lean that they
belong to God’s family: they develop their understanding of how Jesus
teaches people to live and they learn how to relate others in God’s family.

Being • When raising religious awareness in the early years, children learn of God’s
great love for them and how they are created for a special relationship with
God. They are wonder-filled at God’s creation and explore with awe and
curiosity the world and their place in it.
Becoming • Provides experiences of sacred stories, liturgical rituals, prayer and silence so
that young children increasingly participate in the life of the church.
• Through their learning they will also come to know Jesus and the ways he
called us to live our lives, while being given opportunities to demonstrate this
