PAPER4: STUDY OF COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE WITH COAL POWER PLANT FLY ASH AS
PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CEMENT AND FINE AGGREGATE
AUTHORS: AREED AHMED MEMON1, NAFEES AHMED MEMON2, AND RIZWAN ALI MEMON3

• Cubes were made by replacing 25, 50, 75 and 100% of fine aggregate with fly-ash
and replacing 10, 25, 50 and 75% of cement with fly ash. After curing, they were
tested at 3, 7 and 28 days curing age.
• The compressive strength cube made by replacing 100% fine aggregate by fly-ash
was higher than the concrete cubes made with OPC at all 3, 7 and 28 days curing
ages. On the other hand, the compressive strength of concrete cubes made by
replacing 25% of cement by fly-ash was highest.

PAPER5: EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS ON PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CEMENT WITH FLY ASH IN
DESIGN MIX CONCRETE
AUTHORS: PROF. JAYESHKUMAR PITRODA1 , DR. L.B.ZALA2 , DR.F.S.UMRIGAR3

• The cement has been replaced by fly-ash accordingly in the range of 0% (without fly
ash), 10%, 20%, 30% & 40% by weight of cement for M-25 and M-40 mix.
• A detailed cost analysis was tabulated. The cost decreased due to replacement of fly
ash with cement.

OF FLY ASH IN ACIDIC (H2SO4) ENVIRONMENT
AUTHORS: T.G.S KIRAN1, M.K.M.V RATNAM2

• T.G.S Kiran, M.K.M.V Ratnam (2014) : In this paper, the influence of

partial replacement of fly-ash in concrete was subjected to different
curing environments.
• Experimental results on acid resistance of concrete in sulphuric acid
for curing periods of 28 days,60 days, and 90 days of concrete
specimens were taken. The exposed curing conditions taken are fresh
water and in 0%, 1%, 3%,5% sulphuric acid solution. Fly-ash is partially
replaced in the ratio of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%.
• Compressive strength at the age of 28 days, 60 days, 90 days was
obtained. In concrete cement can be replaced with 10% FA with
maximum increase in strength beyond starts decreases.

• Chatterjee,(2011) reported that about 50 % of fly ash generated is utilised
with present efforts. He also reported that, one may achieve up to 70%
replacement of cement with fly ash when high strength cement and very
high reactive fly ash is used along with the sulphonated naphthalene
formaldehyde superplasticizer. He reported improvement in fly ash property
could be achieved by grinding and getting particles in submicrocrystalline
range.
