LIGHT!!!

By Nathan
What is light?

Light is made up of an energy called

(Electromagnetic CEM).Without light we would have
nothing because without sunlight crops cannot grow
without crops farm cannot thrive wich means,no
food.
Properties of light

TRANSPARENT:Is an object that you can see

straight through clearly.

TRANSLUCENT:Is an object that you can see

through but not very well.

OPAQUE:Is an object that your unable to see

through.
How light travels

Light travels fast and straight.Light can travel

186,000 miles per seconds. It takes the light from the
sun about 8 minutes to get to earth.
Pisims

A prism is a object with two identical ends and flat

sides. They are objects you can use for light
experiments.
How shadows form

Shadows form when an opaque object blocks light

Absorption, Reflection and Refraction

Absorption:Is when a light shines on object.The

colours we see bounce off the others absorb.

Reflection:When you look in the mirror your

reflection is there well when you shine a light in a
mirror it bounces.

Refraction:Is when light bends.

Types of mirrors

There are 2 types of mirrors the Convex and the

Concave mirrors.A Concave mirror has a surface that
curves like a bowl.A convex mirror has a surface that
curves out like Captain America's old shield.
Scientists who discovered light

James Clerk Maxwell discovered light in the

1860s.His theory was that light was made out
electromagnetic energy.
Lazers

Note:Lasers are very dangerous do not play with

them without adult supervision.

Lasers are devices that emit light.

Gamma Rays

Gamma Rays have the smallest wavelengths on the

Electromagnetic spectrum.Gamma rays are useful
for getting rid of pests and diseases that can harm
NZ.It can also be used to preserve fruit.
Radiation Therapy

Radiation is a type of treatment used for cancer that

uses high energy such as gamma rays and X-rays
How you see

Light passes through the cornea and the pupil. The pupil is the black bit in the middle of
your iris it lets light to the lenz. The lenz focuses the light through to the retina. The retina
has rods and cones.Rods help you see objects with black, white and shades of grey when the
cones see colors. Then the retina shares messages to the optic nerve and the optic nerve
sends it to your brain.Your eye is as big as a ping pong ball. The iris is the colored bit of
your eye.The sclera is the white bit of your eye it covers most of your eye. My iris is dark
