• The master shelf is the core control unit of the UA5000 . Being configured with
the slave and extended shelves, the UA5000 can converge service of multiple
shelves in an integrated way.
• The master shelf supports the load-sharing and mutual assistance of two
secondary power supply boards (PWXs). The two narrowband and the two
broadband boards provide the dual-system hot backup.
• The narrowband or the broadband control board can be inserted into the twelve
service slots in a mixed way.

• The extended shelf cannot be standalone but to work under the control of the master shelf or
slave shelf.
• The master shelf manages the extended shelf and provide it the mutual power assistance
and the bus extension.
• The extended shelf has only service slots which support the mixed insertion of the broadband
or narrowband service boards.

The IPMB board processes the IP service and ACT

has the following functions:

• Control the broadband service boards of the UA5000.
• Provide resources for broadband service switching.
• Converge and process the broadband service, and
transmit the service data upstream to the IP network
through the FE/GE ports.
• Forward the VoIP service from the PVM board.
• Support the multicast service, and provide the private 4

multicast channel. 5

PVMB- Narrowband Control Board

The PVMB board processes the packet-based RESET

voice service, and has the following functions: (1)

• Transmit the TDM signals upstream to the switch through (2)

the V5 interface.
• Encapsulate the TDM signal into the IP packet, and
transmit the packet upstream to the softswitch device.
• Manage and control the narrow service board of the
UA5000.

• Use the V5 and H.248/MGCP protocols to process
PVM

A32 - Narrowband Service Board

A32 is the 32-line analog service board that provides 32 service

• HSL is the high-speed synchronous service board to realize the
narrowband data service.

• The HSL board provides two V.35 ports and two E1 ports with the rate RXD0

• By occupying the internal HW resource, the V.35 port can reach the LFA0

• The E1 port can connect to the remote data service unit to access the
remote data service at the rate of Nx64 kbps or to bear the data

• The HSL board locks different clock sources to the ST-BUS of the
service shelf or the E1 interface.

• The HSL board has the digital cross-connection function. It finishes


switching 6 HW timeslots after the host sends the command for
switching timeslots.

SDL- Narrowband Service Board

• The H521SDL board supports 4 SHDSL ports and 4 E1 ports


respectively, and provides TDM SHDSL access services.

• The EDTB board provides 16xE1 interfaces,
supports the upstream service, and accesses RUN

subscribers. At most six EDTB boards can be BSY

inserted in a shelf.

• The EDTB board uses the transfer board to provide


the E1 interface. In the front-access shelf, EDTB
uses the SLTF transfer board; in the rear-access
shelf, EDTB uses the E1TB transfer board.

• The EDTB board supports both 120-ohm and 75-


ohm impedance E1 port. EDTB

ADLB-Broadband Service Board

ADLB is the 16-line ADSL board with a built-in RUN

splitter, and it supports the ADSL over POTS


service.

ADMB/ADMC - Broadband Service Board

ADMB/ADMC is the 16-line ADSL/ADSL2+ board RUN

with a built-in splitter. The board supports the

• ADRB is the 32-line ADSL/ADSL2+ board with a RUN

built-in splitter. The board supports the


ADSL/ADSL2+ service and the ADSL over
POTS service.

POTS
• The POTS service is accessed to the ADRB
board through the POTS interface on the front
panel. The combo signal of the ADSL/ADSL2+
and the POTS service is output through the

CSMB - Broadband and Narrowband Combo Board of the UA5000

• The CSMB board has the built-in splitter, and it is a

16-line POTS service.

• The ADSL and the POTS service do not influence


each other on their service and management.

• The POTS ports 7 and 8 support the polarity


reversal.

• Configure the test relay board (RATF, RATB)

CSRI/CSRB - Broadband and Narrowband Combo Board

• The CSRB/CSRI board has the built-in splitter, and it is a


combo board of 32-line POTS service and 32-line ADSL2+

mode, namely, the unbalanced ringing mode.


• The CSRB and the CSRI board perform their cabling
through the backplane or the transfer board, and they
need the transfer board to perform the circuit/loop-line test.
