COMPARATIVE APPROACH
❖ In this, the auditors identify the competitor company as the model.
The results of their organisation are compared with that company or
industry.

❖This approach is commonly used to compare the results of specific

activities or programs.

❖The approach helps in detecting the areas where improvement is

needed.
OUTSIDE AUTHORITY
APPROACH
❖The auditors use standards set by an outside consultant as
benchmark for comparison of own results.

❖Standards can be either published findings or set by a consultant.

❖These standard may help in diagnose the cause of problems.

STATISTICAL APPROACH
❖Under this approach, the auditor develops the statistical measures of
performance for the existing organization’s information, such as
turnover rates.
❖From existing records, the audit team generates statistical standards
against which activities and programs are evaluated.
❖With the mathematical standards as a base, the team may uncover
errors.
❖The information usually expressed in ratios or formulas that are easy
to compute and use.
COMPLIANCE APPROACH
In this approach, auditors review past actions to
calculate whether those activities comply with
legal requirements and industry policies and
procedures.
MANAGEMENT BY OBJECTIVES
(MBO)
❖The 'management by objectives' (MBO) approach entails specification of goals
against which performance is measured.
❖ By this approach, managers set objectives in their specific areas of responsibility
and auditors assess the actual performance by comparing it with the objectives.
❖ The methods for evaluating and disseminating data take the form of:
1. Comparison between time periods
2. Comparison of organisations (even among and between public and
private organizations)
3. Ratio analysis
4. Classification of data (amount of absenteeism, scrap records, time lost
in accidents)
5.Graphical or pictorial displays
WORK-LIFE INTEGRATION
What is work-life balance?
Work-life balance is the amount of time a person gives to their professional and
personal lives respectively.
An even work-life balance is encouraged in order to maintain workplace wellbeing
and fulfillment in your life outside of work – helping to reduce stress, avoid
burning out, and fulfill goals in both areas of life.
Example of work-life balance: using your lunch break to walk your dog.

What is work-life integration?

Instead of separating the two completely, work-life integration aims to unify your
personal and work life way that complements both areas (as opposed to them
competing with each other).
Example of work-life integration: bringing your dog to work
What are the benefits of work-life integration?

Work-life integration is a great way to give equal time and attention to all areas of your life,
without having to sacrifice one for the other.
1. It’s more realistic:- Whilst creating a division between work and home might be your goal, it
isn’t always doable – which can mean your mood is affected if the balance is altered (e.g. you
have to work overtime).
2. A new outlook on work:- Combining work with your personal life could make your day-to-
day less monotonous. Instead of counting down the hours until you’re able to spend time
with your family, you could be working from home and enjoying their company
simultaneously.
3. It’s a great way to prioritize effectively:- By mixing up your ‘9-to-5’ with both work and
home-based duties, you’ll be able to manage your tasks in a way that suits your needs. This
could mean working in the morning followed by going to the gym, making dinner, and/or
picking up the kids, then making up the time by doing work-based duties in the evening.
Work-life integration examples

• Leaving work early and answering emails from home

• In-office yoga, exercise, and walking clubs
• Bringing your child to work after school
• Being sponsored by your business to take a course in something you’re
passionate about
STARBUCKS
❖ Starbucks, in lieu of work life balance has come up with its - Starbucks College
Achievement Plan
❖ Under this program every part-time or full-time employee receives 100% tuition
coverage for their first undergraduate degree through Arizona State University online
programme.
❖ The employees have options from 80 available streams offered by the University.
❖ Another part of the programme
offered by Starbucks is honoring our
service members.

❖ As a sign of gratitude for their

services, the company extends the
Starbucks College Achievement Plan
to the veterans.

❖ This allows all the veteran

employees to nominate any one
family member of their choice to
receive the same benefits of the
programme as other Starbucks
employee.
