Safety Improvement
Mechanical Wing :
In Brake rigging, failure prone items are attended in
YLY and 2 YLY Schedule instead of 3 YLY and 6 YLY
At the time of OVH of brake rigging all items are
checked by lab tests (Magna) before fitment in
locomotives
Brake rigging magna test is done in 180 days and
above schedule in-situ condition
All wheel parameters are maintained above
permissible lower limit
All wheel parameters are checked in every 30 days
intervals.
Safety Improvement
Mechanical Wing :
Loco hand brake is checked in every incoming loco
for proper working and ensuring its reliability
Seeing the difficulty in the operation of conventional
hand brake , a proposal regarding modification of
hand brake from conventional type to gear type
(wheel type) has been moved
Horn assembly is modified to blow
uni-directionally
General Safety
Helmet is provide to all under-gear works and
safety related areas

Quality of Training
Theoretical classes have been made more interactive to
improve the flow of information in between the
Instructor and the trainees
For better understanding of theoretical concepts
practical training on conventional as HHP locos
Special guest lectures are also being conducted on
certain specialized Loco areas like-Air Brake by the Shed
supervisors to infuse a deeper conceptual clarity and to
enable the LPs and ALPs to troubleshoot accordingly.
Hand-outs and pocket books having guidelines for
trouble shooting are also being provided to the trainees
for their future reference.
