What is Research ?
 Research is the process of solving problems and
finding facts in an organized way.
 It is defined as a careful consideration of study
regarding a particular concern or a problem
using scientific methods.
 It is carried out to create new human
knowledge, whether to uncover new facts or
fundamental principles.
 It is a process of investigation. An examination
of a subject from different points of view.
Formulation of research problem
 A research problem is a definite or clear
expression about an area of concern, a
condition to be improved upon, a difficulty
to be eliminated, or a troubling question that
exists in scholarly literature, in theory, or
within existing practice that points to a need
for meaningful understanding and deliberate
investigation.
 A research problem does not state how to
do something, offer a vague or broad
proposition, or present a value question.

 Report findings fully within context of research
questions
 Report qualifications or limitations to your
findings .

including your own!

Citation
 A "citation" is the way you tell your readers that certain
material in your work came from another source. It also
gives your readers the information necessary to find
that source again, including:
 information about the author
 the title of the work
 the name and location of the company that published
your copy of the source
 the date your copy was published
 the page numbers of the material you are borrowing
Citation Index
 The h-index is an author-level metric that
attempts to measure both the productivity and
citation impact of the publications of a scientist
or scholar. The index is based on the set of the
scientist's most cited papers and the number of
citations that they have received in other
publications.
