WHAT IS IT?
A retailer or retail store is any business enterprise whose sale volume comes
primarily from retailing.
A retailer may be defined, as a ‘ dealer or trader who sells goods in small
quantities’.
Any Organization Selling to final consumer is retailing , whether they are

 Big Bazaar caters to every need of your family. Where Big Bazaar scores
over other stores is its value for money proposition for the Indian
customers.
 Since its first outlet open in Kolkata in late 2001, the Big Bazaar has
spread to towns and cities with currently 106 outlets.
 These multi-level shopping meccas stock everything from food to fridges,
and cookware to clothes. Its been especially designed to Indian
consumers.
 With slogan “Is se sasta aur accha aur kahin nahi” the Big Bazaar
targets itself directly at the average Indian love for following the crowd
and scrambling for good discount

 Big Bazaar targets higher and upper middle class


consumers, the large and growing young working
population is a preferred consumer segment.
 Big Bazaar specifically targets working women and
home makers who are the primary decision makers.
HR POLICIES
 Ensure high degree of selectivity in recruitment to secure best in the available
workforce and train them to excel in their performance.
 Impart induction, orientation and training to match the individual to the task.
 Provide facilities for all round growth of individual by training and
development through motivation.
 Groom every employees to perform to the full extent contributing to attain
organizational and personal goals.
 Build team and foster team-work as the primary instrument in day to day
activities.

WHAT IS CAREER PLANNING?
 Career planning is a process of systematically matching career
goals and individual capabilities with opportunities for their
fulfillment.
BENEFITS OF CAREER PLANNING
 Career planning ensures a constant supply of promotable employees.
 It helps in improving the loyalty of employees.
 Career planning encourages an employee’s growth and
development.
 It discourages the negative attitude of superiors who are interested in
suppressing the growth of the subordinates.
 It ensures that senior management knows about the calibre and
capacity of the employees who can move upwards.

FINDINGS
 Career Planning is not done in specific but training is
provided to employees across levels with different
intensity to develop skills, knowledge and capabilities.
 Yearly exams are conducted so as to give promotion
and career growth to employees
 Both the HR and Reporting Manager are responsible to
identify the prospective employee to whom training
needs to be given
 On the rating system on their KRA they are evaluated
and trained. Quarterly rating are done to evaluate their
improvement in performance.
FINDINGS
 Such training helps employees motivate to achieve their career goal, it
gives them opportunity to showcase their hard work and dedication.
 Even if an employee is looking for change he can aim for higher goals.
 Career Planning is very purposeful in today’s competitive world, as due
to competition it is difficult to retain employees . The other company are
ready to pay more to hire other employees instead they can plan a career
growth for employees and put effort to train them to stay loyal.
 Proper career planning and promotional strategies are worth to retain
them.
 As it is being a sensitive case to disclose to employees, they take it as
personal affair and make sure employee ego is not hurt.
 They evaluate the performance by comparing the pre and post rating and
still if it doesn’t match the standard verbal warning is communicated.
 Employee Point of view needs to taken into consideration, what
kind of skills they would like to develop according to their interest,
likes, wants and needs.
 Familiarize employee interest with organizations interest.
 Psychometric test should be conducted to understand the reaction of
employee towards training and career growth.
 Being on Shop floor, job should be diversified for the employees to
regain interest towards job role.
 The organisation should focus on mentor system intend to help
employees on career progression.
Conclusion

 The study has helped us to understand the career planning and


training programs with Big Bazaar. The study has given us
opportunity to connect with the corporate world and interact with
them. This study can be taken ahead as a research topic.
 Based on the finding some recommendations are provided to the
management. The management can take them into consideration in
order to improve the career planning and training strategies and also
bridge the gap between the employee and organisation goal.
