WORKFORCE DIVERSITY IN AN

ORGANISATION
 Workforce diversity has become an important issues in today’s
organisation, as they becoming increasing diverse with respect to their
workforce
 Diversity can generally be defined as recognising, understanding and
accepting individual difference irrespective of their race, gender, age, class,
ethnicity, physical ability, spiritual practice and so on.
 Diversity can be classified in two dimension-Primary dimension,
secondary dimensions.
 During 1960’s and 1970’s the united states for the first time saw the need to
promote workplace diversity by John F. Kennedy.
 Bhatnagar, D. (1987) in her research, investigates about attitude towards
women managers in banks. Data were collected from 65 female and 136
male employee working at clerical level. The research identifies great
difference in attitude of female and male and resistance of the men in
accepting women more worth while peers and career advancement.

 Woodard and saini (2005) have performed a comparative study of diversity


management in USA and Indian organisation and indentifies the discourse
of management in India is at the stage of equal opportunity
 Research can be defined as executing an investigation to acquire an
additional knowledge or idea to add to an existing understanding and
knowledge of a particular discipline.

 In answering research questions, the research work is predicated on


primary and secondary sources of information.

 The concept of workplace diversity is a survey that involves much more


exploration and explanation to the respondent in order to give him a clearer
view of its existence.
