INTRODUCTION

ABOUT GAIL
● Gail (India) Limited (GAIL) (formerly known as Gas Authority of
India Limited) is the largest state-owned natural gas processing
and distribution company in India.
● Headquarter is in NEW DELHI.
● GAIL (India) Limited was incorporated in August 1984 as a Central
Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum
& Natural Gas (MoP&NG).
● GAIL was conferred with the MAHARATNA status on 1 Feb 2013,
by the Government of India.
● It has the following business segments: natural gas, liquid
hydrocarbon,liquefied petroleum gas transmission,petrochemical ,
city gas distribution, exploration and production, GAILTEL and
electricity generation.

FIRST GAIL CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION

● Hazira – Vijaypur – Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline project. It was one


of the largest cross-country natural gas pipeline projects in the
world.
● This 1750-kilometre-long pipeline was built at a cost of ₹17 billion
(US$240 million) and it laid the foundation for development of
market for natural gas in India.
● GAIL commissioned the 1,750 kilometres (1,090 mi) Hazira-
Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline in 1991. Between 1991 and
1993, three liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plants were constructed
and some regional pipelines acquired, enabling GAIL to begin its
gas transportation in various parts of India.

SITE DETAIL AND MATERIALS USED

• The site was located at near Sumanahalli, pipeline road, laggere, prem
Nagar, beggars Colony, Sunkadakatte, Bengaluru.
• The WAREHOUSE was constructed in the area available at the CNG
GAS STATION.
• The total area of the site was 824.7 Sq-m.
• The estimated contract value including all taxes was around 3 crore.
• M25 grade concrete was used from the CHOWDWSHWARI
CONCRETE SOLUTIONS.
• Steel bars of Fe 500 was used from KAMADENU STEELS.

CNG GAS STATION (SV2B)
• This is a control station where the pressurised gas reaches this station
through the Dabhol-Bangalore pipeline.
• It also works as CNG refilling fuel station.
• Gas from this part is tramsmitted to variou parts of bangalore.
ADVANTAGES OF CNG -
• CNG has lower cost of production .
• It is used as fuel in place of gasoline,diesel fuel and LPG.
• Less pollution and more efficient.

● Improper compaction of the soil which led to the settlement of the soil.

The remedial measure taken- The setteled portion of the land was filled by PCC.

● Improper joints where the beam was not placed on the column at a particular point.
