Goals of mathematical
learning
The universe is full of rhythms, beats and
tones that are created either artificially or
naturally

The beating of drum, clapping of hands,


cluttering of leaves by wind, chirping of birds
comprise music

Music pleases our body and mind


Almost everyone in this world likes music and
children are no exception to it

Children are believed to be the most affected


target group that love to listen and produce their
own music

Before learning to speak children creates sound


in a proper tonal pattern of music like cooing and
babbling

As soon as music hits ears of children they begin


to enjoy by dancing and clapping their hands a
great sense of attachment to music
Because of natural attraction of children towards
music they use to show off their feelings, emotion
through singing songs and bodily movements

Music can play an important role in life of


children by helping them to distinguish between
different kinds of song

It can be used as an important tool for fostering


learning capabilities, vocabulary building,
increasing memory of children

Music helps children to unfold their innate


capabilities
Music may be reproductive or productive

For children music is an experience in which he is an


active participant

Music helps children to learn the sources of sound


produced and to differentiate between different kinds of
sounds
Music helps children to explore different kinds of
movements and to use the movements in variety of
ways

Music contributes to development of children in many


ways e.g physical, emotional and cognitive
development
Music has three aspects:

Making

Listening

home by themselves or with the
help of adults or other elder in the
family.
Some activities which help teacher to help children to
make their own musical instruments:-

Drums

Listening to music is the basic skill in music

Music helps in the physical development of children

They will learn to differentiate between various


sounds

It helps in increasing their hearing abilities in a


proper manner

Children can also learn to distinguish the various


instruments and identify their sounds
Listening to music gives children a form of enjoyment
when they are alone

It relaxes them when they are tired

Preschoolers cannot understand physical properties of


sounds
Almost all children enjoy singing

 They sing loudly often with more energy than skill

 They pickup songs they hear, sometimes repeating a


phrase over and over, sometimes miss pronouncing words
etc

 children love to listen those song which deals with familiar


things, including child’s emotions, have easy rhythm

having nonsense rhyming words are mostly liked by


children.
Songs for children are of many types:

Ballads

The lullabies

Harmourous songs
The mathematics curriculum
certainly provided many contribution
in helping pupil in learning to read
and write well

Number are an important part of


everyday life

We use number for various things

Before the children learn to use


numbers he begins to grasp concepts
that he will later express numerically
Goals of mathematical learning :

i. To develop number concept

ii. To develop vocabulary

iii. To have the concept of shapes

iv. To trane a child to think

v. Mathematics cause the concept formation in the child

vi. To develop reasoning and problem solving skills
