 Location in Phoenix mills Mall (ground
floor)

Labor laws(Indian Labor law):

 All employees should have 1 full day off in 7

working days.
 1 hour break after 5 hours of continuous work
 Maximum of 48 hours of work per week
 Maximum of 9 hours of work per day.
 Certain number of leaves allowed per year
Assumptions!!

 Minimum and maximum educational criteria

should be set and adhered to while hiring.
 Assumed that all the required number
employees are trained on all 4 types of
products and are on companies payroll on
permanent basis.
Plans with some assumptions!!
 We would have 1 sales person covering 250 sq
ft during off peak hours per day
 We should have 2 sales person covering 500 sq
ft during off peak hours per day
 We would need 20 + 4 sales persons , 4 cashiers
and 4 guards.
 Per day there would be two shifts of 8 working
hours each as per the Bombay Shops &
Establishments Act, 1948 law.
Plans with some assumptions!!

 Shift 1: 10.00AM to 06.00PM

 Shift 2: 04.00PM to 11.00PM
 One day in a week to be off. It would be on a
rotational basis and it would be changed every 3
months.
 We have taken 4 extra employees apart from 20
as 3 would be on rotational off and 1 would be
needed in case any one falls sick in the scheduled
strength of 20 and also do inventory management
Leave Policy

 24 casual leaves + 6 sick leaves for all

permanent employees.
 Prior intimation required for all leaves for all
the employees.
Breaks during working hours..

 2 breaks given apart from natural breaks.

 Lunch break for 45 mins and another break
for 15mins.
 Breaks are again on rotational basis.
 People from each product segment cannot go
for break together.
 During absence for break the extra employee
is expected to cover up.
Disadvantages of fixed time shifts

 Wastage of labor from 4PM to 6PM

 Non responsive to higher footfall in the
evening.
Flexible Shift System:

 Even more manpower wastage than fixed

timing.
