Social network service (SNS) for
Capacity Support and Career Building
• A social network service is an online service, platform, or site that focuses
on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among
people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A social network service
essentially consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her
social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network
services are web based and provide means for users to interact over the
internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging. Although online community
services are sometimes considered as a social network service. In a
broader sense, social network service usually means an individual-centered
service whereas online community services are group-centered. Social
networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities, events, and interests
within their individual networks.

• Several websites are beginning to tap into the power of the social
networking model for philanthropy. Such models provide a means for
connecting otherwise fragmented industries and small organizations without
the resources to reach a broader audience with interested users. Social
networks are providing a different way for individuals to communicate
digitally. These communities of hypertexts allow for the sharing of
information and ideas, an old concept placed in a digital environment.

• First of all, I suggest you, for all the AFACT members, or even partial members, to create their new
Facebook account as well as Gmail accounts, as such of following example. 

• a) <name Afact place> on Facebook user name


• b) <name.Afact.place> on Gmail address. 

• For example, I can create myself a) <consulting Afact Tokyo> for Facebook user name, and b) <
consulting.afact.tokyo@gmail.com> 

• Using b) to create a) for each is recommendable, but of course you can use your usual mail for a)  
• After creating a), logon Facebook and become a member of following page.

This is just a trial page, so in the future it is modifiable. 
• Design of AFACT Info Stream consists of creating the following lines. 
• 2. Facebook group for AFACT expertises
• 3. Twitter account for generous PR for AFACT 
• 4. Blog - Typepad, Wordpress, Blogger for new blogging or you may have already your own blogs. 
• 5. Google profile for each AFACT members
• 6. Delicious account for AFACT representative (official or unofficial, it does not matter) 
• 7. Digg account for AFACT representative (official or unofficial, it does not matter) 

• I will explain these further in detail. 


• Now I should mention the following concept when creating these info stream lines. 

• A. Social Outreach Activity of AFACT 


• B. Communication for Internal Experts for AFACT. 

• I think your main interest stresses firstly the point B) and at the same time
encouraging the approach A). I mean for A), it should be extended to various
approach such as promotion of academic program, organizing events or getting
fundings.  And the info stream lines that I mentioned above 1 to 7, is to bring the large
audience to A). How to design B) is still depending on you, and both A) and B) will be
integrated into netvibes and then into your AFACT H.P. 

• Please add your comments and give me your directions. 


• Concretely first, give me your blog, twitter addresses for the purpose of 1 to 7.  
• And after, let us talk on SIG grouping.

Consultancy proposed
• AFACT-CSC starts the project of Capacity Support and
Career building with using Social Network Services.
• The project is proposed to Japanese HoD actors,
JASTPRO/JTREC requesting for budget allocation and for
funding.
• The model case studied by Scenario 25 and Earthlink
offers a good example for development scheme.
• The consultation proposal succeeded being reported to
AFACT StC for requesting the project handling.
• Demanding initial investment to fund the basic structure of
this system with amount up to several million U.S. dollars
during 3 years.
