INTRODUCTION TO THE
CASE:
 Carol Lee was working in Larchmont Consulting.
 Walter Lemaire was the Senior Vice President of
the company.
 Lemaire was Lee’s mentor for several years.
 With his guidance, Lee was promoted to various
supervisory jobs.
RELATIONSHIP TURNED
UPSIDE DOWN
 Walter moved up to start up a software venture
with Larchmont and Lee was promoted to his
place.

 But his new venture faltered and the partners


decided to give Lee the assignment to start up the
rescue operation.
 Carol’s discomfort grew as she reviewed the
history of the venture.
 She had to reverse all the doings of the Walter.
 And she found herself unable to discuss any of
her proposed solutions with Walter as it would be
like “pouring salts on his wound”
