DEFINITION;

“It is the process to make a compairson


between the standard and actual
performance and to find out the
deviation and take corrective action to
remove the deviation.”
“The performance appraisal is the
systematic evaluation of the individual
with regard to his or her performance on
the job and his potentical for
development”
 OBJECTIVE OF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL;
1) SALARY INCREASE;
Normally salary increase of an employee depend on how
he is performing his job.
2) PROMOTION:Performance appraisal discloses how
an employees working in his present job and what are his
strong and weak point.
3) TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT;
4) PRESSURE ON EMPLOYEES:To be
systematic & objective in performance
appraisal,manager require a understanding
of various performance appraisal like methods of
performance appraisal,problem in solving & how these
problem can be overcome.
 FEEDBACK:Performance

appraisal provide feedback to


emloyees about their
performance.it tells them
where they stand.
PROCESS
 Establishing performance standard
communicate performance expectation to
employees.
Measure actual performance.
Compaire actual with standard performance.
Discuss the appraisal with emloyees.
If necessary,initiate corrective action.

 The report highlights the strenght & weakness

of suborinates.

ESSAY EVALUATION:
 Check the report day-to day,monthly,quartly
as well as weak & strong point of the
employees behaviour.
CRITICAL INCIDENCE:
 The manager prepare list of statement of every
effective & ineffective behaviour of employees.
CHECK LIST :
 It represent in simplest form.
 A set of objectives or discriptive statement about

the employees & his behaviour.

 It is used in printed form to evaluate the
performance of employees.
