Units of Sound is a structured, multi sensory, phonological programme developing word, sentence and text level skills. Learner managed, suitable for home and classroom, the software can be supported by trained, supervised non specialists or be part of a specialist teachers toolkit. Independent reading and spelling assessment places students appropriately across learning levels from basic literacy to university and beyond.
It is suitable for most adults and children with levels of reading and spelling above cvc. Learners with lower levels skills would need to begin with Active Literacy Kit. Use of ALK and UofS together
Stage 1- from cvc words Stage 2 - from blends and digraphs Stage 3 - multi syllable words Each stage covers approximately 2 years of reading age.

Family Literacy
Primary school parents and children together LTF 6 Specialist teacher mentor sessions with Senco and or LSA co running sessions Additional support sessions from School staff in between 1 to 4 family pairs of learner in flexible sessions when they could come Sustainable
Parent Literacy
Partnership with Parent Ambassadors 10 sessions using LTF usb version and writing course 6-8 parents able to write a basic sentence and read cvc words
1 to 1 with dyslexia specialist coach Part funded by Access to work and Employer LTF / UofS introduced as supported independent learning during early sessions of a 21 hour individualised course supporting work related literacy issues Develop spelling / reading
3-5 students Introduce UofS as group or individually on rolling programme Support in sessions Independent practice at decoding as part of individualised support Useful activity not needing teacher time Can be supported by LSA in between sessions
