Durreen Shahnaz is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKY), and was the founder and former head of the Program in Social Innovation and Change at LKY. She has a track record as a successful social entrepreneur and media executive. She founded, ran and sold the social purpose business oneNest in New York. She also headed up the Asia operations of Hearst Magazines International, Readers Digest Asia, and Asia City Publishing Group. Ms. Shahnaz has worked at Grameen Bank (Bangladesh), Morgan Stanley (New York), Merrill Lynch (Hong Kong, China) and the World Bank (Washington, D.C.). Ms. Shahnaz holds a BA from Smith College; an MBA from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania; and an MA from the School for Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Ms. Deepa Chatrath


Regional Managing Director, Corum Singapore
Deepa Chatrath is passionate about womens empowerment, social enterprises and public policy. She is Co-founder of 100 Women Forum a Singapore based not-for-profit Company that focuses on gender empowerment and equality across Asia and the Pacific region. Ms. Chatrath is also member of Stree Shakti - The Parallel Force www.streeshakti.com. She was also part of the jury for Cartier Womens Initiative 2010 www.cartierwomensinitiative.org, an international entrepreneurship competition for women. Ms. Chatrath is a Board member of the Women Founders Collective www.womenfounders.org, an organization that was created to minimize the effectiveness and experience of women founders of NGOs globally Ms. Chatrath has 18 years of experience in building brands in consumer lifestyle products industry in emerging and mature markets in Asia and the Pacific region and is presently Regional Managing Director of a leading consumer lifestyle brand. Ms. Chatrath holds a BA English Honors & an MBA with specialization in Marketing from India and an EMBA from INSEAD.

Mr. Lin Menuhin


Director, Corporate Social Responsibility, Diageo Asia Pacific
As Corporate Social Responsibility Director for Diageo Asia Pacific based in Singapore, Lin Menuhin works with both internal and external stakeholders from the public, private and civil society sectors to promote effective alcohol policies aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm. He is also in charge of Diageo's Responsible Drinking and Enriched Communities agenda throughout the region. Mr. Menuhin has lived and worked extensively in Asia and the Pacific for over 19 years. For many years he worked at the investment and government relations consultancy Batey Burn in Beijing, Shanghai and Hanoi. Prior to joining Diageo in late 2005, Mr. Menuhin spent three years in Viet Nam with DKT International, a social marketing organization specializing in family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Mr. Menuhin holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Princeton University, and an MSc in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University.

Mr. Sukich Udindu


Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, Thailand Stock Exchange; Vice President, Corporate Responsibility, Minor Group
Sukich Udindu is the Vice President of CSR at the Minor Group, one of the largest food, hospitality, and lifestyle businesses in Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the Minor Group, he was the Drector of Resource Development at CARE Thailand. Mr. Udindu is also the founder and Vice Chairman of the CSR Club at the Stock Market of Thailand. He is also a CSR advisor for several NGOs, charitable foundations, and civil society networks. He is the founder and president of ECOTOPIA, the alliance for Ecological Utopia and bridging network for climate change. Mr. Udindu is the Thailand representative in the Asia-Pacific Philanthropy Consortium. In government, Mr. Udindu serves on several committees, such as the National Center for Giving & Volunteering, the CSR Support Center, and the Youth Development Committee at the Ministry of Human Security & Social Development. He also serves as the advisor for the Deputy Minister of Finance and as chairman of Finance for Society. He has written two innovative books: The Community Foundation puts forth a concept and guidelines for an ideal and sustainable community fund, and Follow the Social Leadership outlines leadership-development practices for a new generation of philanthropists. Mr. Udindu holds a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Chulalongkorn University, a Masters degree in architecture from Pratt in New York, and an MBA from Thammasat University.

Mr. Sunit Shrestha


Managing Director, Change Fusion
Sunit Shrestha is the founder of ChangeFusion. He has raised and managed projects worth over US$3 million focusing on social innovation development such as internet-based social technologies as well as sustainable agriculture. ChangeFusion, formerly known as Thai RuralNet, is a World Bank Development Marketplace winner. Mr. Shrestha started off his career with Access Capital, a venture capital firm in Bangkok. He was also a Bloomberg Fellow in Finance. He became an Ashoka Fellow in 2009.

CEO, Founder, HIP Investor
Paul Herman invented HIP=Human Impact + Profit in 2004 to connect for-profit investors seeking positive human, social and environmental impacts and financial returns with investments designed to deliver those intended results. The HIP Scorecard (SM) ratings and rankings which focus on quantifiable metrics of sustainability and how they drive financial performance have been featured in Fast Company magazine and online in 2007, 2008 and 2010. [HIP has also advised corporate clients, like Wal-Mart and NIKE, on how to be more HIP.] Mr. Hermans financial expertise began with his Wharton School finance degree and work at McKinsey & Co., developing incentive regulation for energy companies and regulators, as well as strategic improvements for Fortune 500 corporate clients and government at CSC Index. He designed the Omidyar Networks investment strategy, and led Ashoka.orgs fundraising and partnerships as Chief Development Officer globally, expanding its donations and entrepreneurial networks. Mr. Hermans own HIP investing includes companies in microfinance, organic food, renewable energy, affordable health care, and B2B systems. He is an Investment Committee member of the Patient Capital Fund and an advisor to Net Impact.

Mr. Robert Kraybill


Managing Director, Impact Investment Exchange Board Member, Impact Investment Shujog
Robert Kraybill is a senior finance executive with two decades of capital markets experience as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Wasserstein Perella, and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and a private equity investor. Mr. Kraybill came to Asia in 2004 as head of Asia-ex Japan Investment Banking for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and most recently was head of Asian private equity for Marathon Asset Management. He currently acts as Senior Advisor to Asian Tiger Capital, an innovative financial services boutique facilitating investment in Bangladesh. Mr. Kraybill has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the MBA program of Singapore Management University. He holds a BA from Princeton University, magna cum laude, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, summa cum laude.

Mr. Ashvin Dayal


Managing Director, Asia, Rockefeller Foundation
Ashvin Dayal joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2008. As Managing Director, Asia, he manages the Foundations regional office based in Bangkok, Thailand, and oversees work across Asia, strengthening and complementing the Foundations initiatives around the globe. Before joining the Foundation, Mr. Dayal held various senior policy, management and leadership roles with Oxfam Great Britain, starting there in 1993. He most recently headed the NGOs South Asia operations from New Delhi, India, where he was responsible for developing and managing strategy and programs focusing on disaster management, climate change resilience, private sector engagement, agricultural development, and promoting women's economic leadership. This involved overseeing a network of teams and offices in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Previously, Mr. Dayal had been based in Thailand for six years as Oxfams East Asia Director, leading development of a new regional strategy for addressing inclusion, equality and vulnerability in the context of rapid economic growth. His efforts spanned work in Cambodia, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Timor Leste, Thailand, and the Philippines, and he also oversaw the execution of Oxfam's new strategy for working inside Myanmar. Mr. Dayal holds a Bachelors degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University and a masters degree from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Development

Mr. Robert van Zwieten Director, Private Sector Capital Markets and Financial Sectors Division, Asian Bank (ADB)
Robert van Zwieten is the Director at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) overseeing the bank's private sector operations in Asian capital markets and financial sectors, covering 48 developing countries.

Through its work with financial intermediaries, ADB's private sector capital markets operations focus on financial sector development, expanding access to finance, particularly amongst lower income households (microfinance and housing finance) and micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, as well as on infrastructure development and climate change finance. In addition, the division conceived and operates ADBs Trade Finance Program (TFP), which fills enduring trade finance gaps and furthering regional economic integration. Mr. Van Zwieten has 23 years of global senior executive experience in financial services, having conducted business and led teams, transactions and projects in all major financial markets in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. He has worked for Royal VOPAK, ABN AMRO Bank, GE Capital and GE Energy, Lehman Brothers and Singapore Exchange. He possesses domain knowledge in the areas of corporate, commercial and investment banking, securities brokerage, exchanges, trade finance, alternative asset management and emerging capital markets. Mr. Van Zwieten serves on the Board of Trustees of International House in New York. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of Doctors Without Borders/ Mdecins Sans Frontires (MSF) USA and is a past Chairman of its Development Council. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago - Booth School of Business, obtained his J.D. and M.A. degrees from Leiden University, the Netherlands, and holds an LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law in New York.

Mr. En Lee
Director, Impact Partners
En Lee is the Director of Impact Partners, the private investment platform of the IIX. Formerly an Executive Director of Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC, Mr. Lee worked with numerous Asiafocused hedge funds and advised on structuring, prime brokerage, capital introduction, financing and regulatory issues. Previously, Mr. Lee was a Corporate Associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and Hong Kong and specialized in private equity, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions. Mr. Lee is a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) and was a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). For over a decade, Mr. Lee has been actively involved with charity work and philanthropy and more recently, with social enterprises and impact investing. He is an avid traveler and a Travel Editor for Glass magazine, an international sustainable lifestyle magazine. Mr. Lee graduated with a first class LL.B (Honors) degree from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.

Mr. Sanjiv Misra


Chairman, Asia, Unitus Capital Based in Singapore Sanjiv Misra is President of
Phoenix Advisers Pte Ltd, a boutique advisory and principal investing firm. He is also ChairmanAsia, and a member of the Board of Directors of Unitus Capital, a financial advisory and investment firm targeting social businesses and impact investing opportunities at the bottom of the economic pyramid. Before this, he spent eleven years at Citigroup, most recently as Head of the Asia Pacific Corporate Bank (APCB) from June 2004 till May 2008. Prior to his appointment to this position, Mr. Misra was the Chief Executive Officer of Citigroups Global Corporate and Investment Banking Group (GCIB) in Singapore and Brunei and Citigroup Country Officer for Singapore. From 1999 to 2003, he was Head of Asia Pacific Investment Banking, based in Hong Kong, China. From January 1997 to March 1999, he served as Head of Equity Capital Markets for AsiaPacific. Mr. Misra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University, a post-graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Master of Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where he graduated as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Global Investments Limited, an SGX listed company.

Mr. Steve Hardgrave

Ms. Jana Svedova


As Senior Managing Director of Gray Ghost Ventures (GGV), Steve Hardgrave is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the company and its impact investing initiatives. With more than 10 years of cross functional management experience, he brings a unique mix of entrepreneurship, international development and investment expertise to the team. Mr. Hardgrave helped build GGVs early social venture portfolio and more recently led the launch of GGVs initiative to provide financing to affordable private schools throughout the developing world. Prior to joining GGV, Mr. Hardgrave was an Investment Manager with the Omidyar Network, where he was responsible for sourcing, analyzing and managing assets in the Access to Finance portfolio. He previously spent seven years in Mexico, where he worked with a Mexican community development NGO (Amextra) and later started a for profit microfinance institution (Avance). Mr. Hardgrave holds an MBA from University of California, Berkeley and a BA in International Economics from University of California, Los Angeles. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Global Social Venture Competition and sits on the board of the Silicon Valley
Microfinance Network.

Investment Manager, Synergy Venture Fund


Jana Svedova is a co-founder of Synergy Venture Fund, a not-for-profit social investment fund working to support early stage social ventures in Southeast Asia and the Peoples Republic of China. Prior to forming Synergy, she was an Investment Manager at a Hong Kong, China-based venture philanthropy fund and responsible for investment opportunity analysis and post investment management. Before entering the field of social finance, Jana worked in the financial services industry in Canada in areas ranging from wealth management to small business lending. She holds a BA in International Relations and an MBA from University of British Columbia. During her MBA studies. Ms. Svedova was also a research fellow at the University of British Columbias Center for Sustainability and Social Innovation, conducting research into the effectiveness of models for financial sustainability in not-for-profit organizations and a study on financial tools for a green economy.

Ms. Komal Sahu


Director of Strategic Partnerships Impact Investment Exchange
Komal Sahu is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Accountants and an Associate member of the Institute of Taxation in the UK. She was previously a Senior Tax Manager with KPMG in London in their financial sector practice. She has specialized in the taxation and structuring of investment funds and asset management groups. Prior to that, she worked for the British Civil Service as a tax investigator in the City of London. During the last three years, she has helped various charitable organizations in India and assisted with fund raising and educating HIV positive children. Ms. Sahu has an Honors degree in Economics from the University of Delhi.

Mr. Anurag Agrawal


Senior Vice President, Intellecap
Mr. Agrawal leads the investment banking practice of Intellecap with specific focus on assisting early stage multiple bottom line enterprises access growth capital in the form of equity investments. He has been involved with carrying out valuations for most of the leading microfinance institutions in India and has also assisted some of these institutions in their fund raising efforts. Mr. Agrawal has worked with several socially oriented investors assisting them in identifying suitable investment opportunities in the development finance space, facilitating investment transactions into such entities. He has worked with ICICI Bank prior to joining Intellecap. Mr. Agrawal holds a BBA and M. Com from Madras University, Chennai.

Ms. Sarinee Achavanuntakul


Freelance Writer, Co-Founder of Thai Netizen Network, Adjunct Professor at Thammasat University
Sarinee Achavanuntakul is a writer, translator, and banker-turned-academic who regularly publicizes new developments in social enterpreneurship and sustainable development via her personal blog at http://www.fringer.org/ and various publications. She is also the editor of Open Online (www.onopen.com), a web magazine in Thai, and teaches an undergraduate course called "Business and Society" every year as adjunct professor at Thammasat University's Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy. Ms. Achavanuntakul has written and translated over 30 books, including the Thai translation of Muhammad Yunus' Banker to the Poor. In late 2008, she co-founded Thai Netizen Network (http://www.thainetizen.org/) with fellow citizen journalists to campaign about Internet freedom in Thailand. In addition to teaching and writing, Ms. Achavanuntakul is currently conducting research on village banking schemes in Thailand. She holds an MBA in Finance from Leonard Stern School of Business, New York University, and a BA in Economics from Harvard University.

Mr. Simon Makinson

Simon Makinson is the Managing Partner of the Bangkok office of Allen & Overy. He leads its Corporate Group (which includes the real estate sub group). He has been practicing in Thailand since early 1989 and has particular expertise in corporate and regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions and securities law in Thailand and Indochina. He has advised on numerous mergers and acquisitions of listed and unlisted companies and acted for major companies investing in Thailand and Indochina. Allen & Overy is a leading global law firm with 36 offices around the world, including nine in Asia.
