YSAFAs Development Strategys Goals, Problems and the Methods of Their Realization
- To provide stabile development of the students staff.
clarify students admission perspective plan, taking into account the demand of the market; organize the teaching process of the foreign students in English; develop the cooperation with foreign art universities; work out joint programs and define appropriate qualification degrees in correspondent specializations; have the same specializations, which we have in Yerevan branch, in Gyumri and Dilijan branches as well.

- To provide a stabile stream of the applicant students and support the graduates to find a job. establish a college; establish preparation courses in all the branches; in Armenia and abroad to advertise the specializations, which prepares the Academy.

Goal 1: To raise the quality and the efficiency of teaching in accordance with Bologna Declaration.

In order to reach this goal Academy has to: create and implement a new quality assessment system and to appropriate it to the ESG; create new mechanisms of quality analysis of the programs of the modules; work out the educational programs' and quality assessment phased mechanism; organize attestation of the students; ensure transparency of the quality assessment standards; ensure the same quality assessment demands and standards for all the branches of the Academy.

- To organize stage measures of revision and conformation of the educational programs to the ESG. YSAFA has to: revise the list of specializations, add new specializations into the list; provide the students information about the changes in the YSAFA policy; develop initiative and management skills in the graduates.

- To work out and implement the credit system and to provide the compatibility of the credits with ESG system
The following will help to realize the above mentioned: introduce the professors and the administrative staff to the accreditation system; ensure the students participation in education planning and choice of alternative programs; improve some administrative and organizational substructures of the Academy in accordance with European normative requirements; create students assessment and attendance electronic database; promote the mobility of the students especially European educational zone (to give them opportunity to continue their education in Europe with their collected credits).

- To improve the teaching methods and educational quality assurance mechanisms in order to raise the educational quality and efficiency.
Academy has to: improve the assessment system in order to raise the education quality and students interest; take into account the students' proficient interests and abilities; make more efficient the student professor relationship; improve the practical work of the students in industrial institutions, provide contacts between the potential employers and the graduates of the Academy; improve computer skills, grant programs writing skills and other literate skills of the students; monitor, borrow and share skills with similar universities abroad; improve the investigating programs especially in the field of Art Theory.

Goal 2: The question of optimal alternation of generation of the teaching staff:


analyze and evaluate the potential of the existing teaching staff from the point of view of the reforms of the educational programs and the Academy at all; form a strategic plan of replacement of the teaching staff, reach the minimization of the middle age of the staff members; work out and realize trainings for the teaching staff; optimize professor student administrative worker quantitative relations; recruit young specialists, encourage them morally and financially; work out an estimation mechanism for creative-pedagogical activity of the teaching staff.

In administrative field the Academy has to:

reach optimization in personnel policy; introduce the administrative staff to the new methods of management; recruit young members for the administrative staff.

- To promote the formation of moral-psychological environment for the whole staff of the Academy. The Academy has to: establish a durable system of values and acceptable behavior based on the traditions of the Academy and the modern requirements; combine the general interests of the Academy and each member of the Academy, develop the sense of collective responsibility; develop student professor collaboration and mutual understanding; improve the transparency of the decision making; involve more and more professors in decision making, ensure their participation in the Academy's life; promote the cooperation between the Academys administration, trade unions and non-governmental organizations, encourage organization of staff's entertainment

- To improve the management system of the Academy: analyze the existing management system and realize, is it appropriate to the development strategy of the Academy; refresh and optimize the structure of the Academy; work out strategy plans for all the branches of the Academy: work out a structural unit for assessing the quality of Academys activities.

- To raise the efficiency and the quality of the management of the Academy: apply modern management methods and technologies; introduce the staff to the modern methods of management: clarify the responsibilities and the relations of the managing units; improve the information flow for the administrative staff of the Academy.

- To develop autonomy of the students according to Bologna's criteria: promote the students participation in the Academys management; raise the role of students council in the reforming of the Academy in accordance with ESG; support the students council in the development of foreign relations.

Approval, monitoring and periodic review of programs


The Academy always tries to improve the teaching process of the students. Annually the programs are monitored, discussed in the scientific council of each chair, refreshed. After approval of the programs by the chair council, they are represented to the scientific council of the Academy.

The annual overview and improvement of the educational program of each module take place taking into account the following: the market requirements; students progress and achievement monitoring; suggestion of the students and teaching staff; experience of similar universities; requirements of ESG.

Assessment of the students


Accreditation process is realized after student progress and achievement monitoring by the deans offices, the representatives of the chairs and the correspondent administrative unit the educational department of the Academy. The results are collected and summarized. The Academy has to: create a database in order to collect, calculate and summarize the results of the exams automatically; ensure the transparency of knowledge assessment; report about the results of each student's and all the students progress; publish the annual reports on students' progress and achievement; in general, implement the assessment system of Bologna.

Quality assurance of the teaching staff


- To raise the quality of teaching staff. The following actions have to be performed: create attestation systems; work out surveys for the assessment of the teaching staff by the students; recruit new staff members; improve the professor student relationship; encourage the professors, who succeed in pedagogical and creative activity, etc.

Learning resources and student support


In our days YSAFA has the following resources to support the students' education process: laboratories, which have to be reequipped; libraries, which have a lack of new literature. The Academy needs a digital library as well. There are no video films about the famous artists and on the history of arts. Usually the professors provide video materials from their own collections in order to provide more qualified teaching process; computer classes, two of which were equipped due to Tempus program. visits to national galleries of Armenia and Hermitage in St. Petersburg; unfortunately the students have no opportunity to travel and to visit art centers, to see foreign great artists masterpieces, architectural monuments; gallery, where the students and the teaching staff can exhibit their works; etc.

Information systems
YSAFA needs to implement wildly IT technologies in all the fields of its activity. The access of the teaching staff and the students to the information resources is one of the keys on the way of integration.

It's important to have own electronic information resources. One can be well informed visiting our own internet site which is monthly being updated: http://www.yafa.am. We have computer classes with necessary package of programs, a local network, and all the students have internet access. But the Academy has to have scientific and educational electronic resources, implement on-line education e-learning for possible modules. The students of the department of Computer Graphics have absolute computer skills.

Public information
The Academy has to provide publicity about its activity: compose and publish methodological annual guidebooks and e-books; compose and publish timetables and e-tables of the courses and the exams for each semester; update the existing internet site (http://www.yafa.am); advertise the activity of the Academy; provide information about the teaching staff and the graduates by mass media;

promote relationship between the YSAFA and Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Diaspora, Ministry of Culture, Art Galleries, Museums, etc. work out a cooperation program with foreign art institutions; cooperate with the Artists' Union of Armenia; Designers' Union of Armenia; promote the relationship with the public; provide transparency of the Academy activity, goals and problems.
