Objectives

On the completion of this topic, you would be

able to know about

• Associate Tags with memory.

• Creating a Tag.

• Naming a Tag.

AEI602.70 2
Associate tags with memory

• SCADA systems usually implement distributed database

commonly called a Tag database, which contains data

elements called Tags or Points.

• Points represents a single input, output value monitored

or controlled by the System..

• Points are mainly two types

• Hard points
• Soft points
AEI602.70 3
Associate tags with memory…

• A hard point is representatives of an actual input(or)

output connected to the system.

• Where as soft point represents the result of logic and

math operation applied to other hard and soft points.

• Tag or point values are normally stored as value- time

stamp combinations.
• A series of value – time stamp combination is the history

of point.

Creating of Tags

• Launch the Application manager, select a application

from the list.

• Click window Maker on the Tool bar.

Creating of Tags…

• Memory Tags are variables with in SCADA package.

• These variables are not directly connected with real world

inputs.

• I/O Tags are variables not within the SCADA package.

• These variables are directly connected with the real world.

Creating of Tags…

• In SCADA tags are the variables declared to the database.

• In general Some of SCADA packages declare variables

as points as in CIMPLICITY package.

• Creation of tags using CITECT package is as follows
