A woman in the 19th Century helped fight
against slavery and encouraged women’s
right to vote. She wanted equality in
America. Who is this brave woman?

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly


across the Atlantic Ocean. She was
attempting to be the first person to fly
around the world, but her plane disappeared
over the Pacific Ocean.

Abraham Lincoln did fight against slavery,


but didn’t encourage the women’s right to
vote, and is a man.
A special date in history is Independence
Day. Independence Day is a memorial for
the adoption of The Declaration of
Independence. It is also a federal holiday.
Independence Day is on July 4th. What year
was Independence Day started?

2000 might confuse you because it an
even sounding date..

1767 might confuse you if you knew it was


in the 1700’s, because I switched the 7
and 6.
The famous American song, “The Star
Spangled Banner” was written in 1814. It
was written by a man named Francis Scott
Key, after seeing the bombardment of
Fort McHenry, in Chesapeake Bay, in
1812. In the song, “The Star Spangled
Banner,” how many times is America said
in it?

On September 11, 2001, four of our U.S. planes
were hijacked by terrorists. Two planes flew into
the Twin Towers in New York City, one flew into the
pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the fourth

B. The Empire State Building

after good people on the plane retook
control.
