Asian Computer College Teacher Orientation June 2011

Let us all pray:

Lord Jesus, you are with us now. Help us recognise your presence in each other. May friendship and cooperation flourish here. Fill us with a deep sense of peace. Inspire us to listen with attention and patience to each other, to share with courage and generosity, and to welcome the ideas of all. May this orientation strengthen our friendship, build our community and increase our confidence in ourselves and our school. Lord Jesus, bless Asian Computer College so that it may be a lively center for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom. Always guide it so that it will never waver in its mission of enriching and improving the lives of all the members of the academic community. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Why do you teach? What is your vision for teaching? What would you do to be able to improve?

How to inspire students?

Build Relationships

Listen
Respect Model

The #1 key to inspiring the uninspired is the teachers ability to build relationships.

Write a Personal Mission Statement and a Classroom Mission Statement which reflect your aspirations.

Sample Personal Mission Statement

In my everyday life I will strive to make a difference with both my family and my students.

Sample Classroom Mission Statement In our class: We will respect each other. We will learn everyday And we will have fun doing it.

Change the World

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world. ~Author Unknown http://www.justgive.org/html/news/changeworld.html
